A legals-only ceremony conducted by me, approximately 5 minutes in length. Capped at a total of 5 attendees including myself, yourselves and 2 witnesses. Available Monday to Thursday (any time), Friday and Saturday mornings before midday.

A wedding ceremony with just what you need…
The legal ceremony, conducted by me, runs about five minutes, with up to five people present: the two of you, two witnesses and me. It happens in a place you chose, and every legal requirement is met.

Arrive 15 minutes early so we can finish the remaining paperwork before we begin

You’ll need two legal witnesses on the day and if you're having suppliers, like a photographer, they can be a witness as well. Otherwise, I can supply two witnesses for a small fee. Ceremonies run Monday to Thursday at any time, and Friday and Saturday mornings before midday.
You get exactly the legal result you came for. The paperwork, the travel, the backup celebrant and the lodgement are all handled, so your only jobs are to choose the place and bring two witnesses.
This package covers the legal requirements only, so there’s no couple’s story and no personalisation beyond your names.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You must lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with a celebrant at least one calendar month before the legal ceremony, so the quickest standard route is about a month from signing the notice. If your date is closer than that, get in touch. A shorter notice period is only possible in specific circumstances and has to be approved by a prescribed authority. It isn’t automatic, and there’s no flexibility outside the permitted reasons.

It’s the federal form that tells the law you intend to marry. It is part of all the legal paperwork I help prepare for you. Once you have signed it, and I take it on your behalf, it is considered ‘lodged’. It must be lodged at least one calendar month, and no more than eighteen months, before the ceremony. The one-month clock starts on the day I receive it, and if you lodge it too early it expires and you start again. We sign your first lot of paperwork on the 30-minute call.

Proof of date and place of birth, proof of identity, and evidence that any previous marriage has ended. For most couples that means a passport or drivers licence and birth certificate, plus a divorce order or death certificate if it applies.

Yes. I lodge everything with the relevant Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) office in the state or territory where the ceremony takes place. The celebrant must submit the legal paperwork within 14 days of the ceremony. I send a wrap-up email afterwards with a link to order your official marriage certificate from BDM.

The commemorative certificate is yours to keep, and it’s included on the day. It isn’t a legal document. The official certificate comes from BDM once your marriage is registered, and it’s the one you need for name changes, visas and other official uses.

Any two people aged 18 or over. Many couples ask their suppliers, like a photographer, to witness, which means nobody extra needs to come along. The witnesses sign the certificates with you and me, and they don’t need to say or do anything else.

No. You don’t need to be a citizen or permanent resident to marry in Australia. Tell me early if either of you is travelling in from overseas, because the paperwork and timing need to be sorted before you arrive.

That’s fine. You’ll need evidence that the previous marriage ended, such as a divorce order or death certificate. If a divorce is recent, we’ll check the dates together before you book, because the timing can affect when you’re free to marry.
